Hey guys
Just realised that it’s been a while since doing a DIY post.
And I thought it would be nice to do 1 now.
So for the past 2 weeks or so I’ve been experimenting with a lemon toner, which I made myself.
Knowing and experiencing the excellent benefits of lemon for skin, I was keen to try this out and I am pleased, to say the least.
So in the past I’ve used undiluted lemon juice on my face as a sort of mask. Basically just applied it and washed off after a little while.
Now, I was running low on toner and needed a new 1. I wanted to try something new but nothing on the shelves quite caught my eye.
After remembering how well lemon worked for me in the past and the amazing benefits, I decided to create my own toner.
As mentioned, I’ve been using it for about 2 weeks now.
I haven’t experienced any breakouts since starting.
My skin looks and feels smoother and clearer.
And overall I have a healthy complexion.
And I give thanks to this little gem
Incase you don’t already know, here are some benefits of lemons for skin and how it works:
• Contains citric acid, which gently exfoliates skin, removing dead skin cells, revealing smoother skin.
• Lightens scarring and pigmentation
• Balances skins PH
• Prevents breakouts and dries up/heals existing ones faster
• Gives a clearer and more radiant, even complexion
Go ahead! Give it a try!
So all I did was squeeze a lemon and strain. Add some purified or boiled water and shook it up.
Depending on how sensitive your skin is, start off with a solution with more water and then gradually make it stronger by increasing the amount of lemon juice.
Use as you would a toner, with a cotton pad/ball and swipe over your entire face after cleansing, morning and evening.
Follow with eye cream, serums and moisturiser.
This should be kept for a maximum of 2 weeks, so it’s best to make small quantities at a time.
It can also be stored in the fridge for a more cooling and refreshing toner.
PS. It’s normal to experience a slight tingle for a few seconds after using this but If your skin burns for a long time or starts to turn red, rinse off with cold water and rather abstain from using it.
Also, this can dry out your skin a little so be sure to use a good moisturiser afterwards.
Let us know if you’ve tried this before or if you do decide to, we’d love it if you shared your experiences and thoughts. We love feedback! 🙂
